What makes us GREEN?

GREEN BUILDING IS ABOUT PRESERVING THE PAST AND BUILDING THE FUTURE Leatherwood Inc. a full service construction company specializing in historic restorations, and sympathetic historic replications has announced its membership in the U. S. Green Building Council. The U.S. Green Building Council is the nation’s foremost coalition of leaders working to transform the way buildings and communities are designed, built and operated, enabling an environmentally and socially responsible, healthy, and prosperous environment that improves the quality of life. Vic Hood, President of Leatherwood, stated that he is proud of the company’s association with the U.S. Green Building Council and has achieved FSC certification (SCS-COC-001847) for its reclaimed and recycled wood products that Leatherwood manufactures into custom flooring, panelling and beams. Leatherwood’s position is that recycling buildings is the most environmentally friendly option available. “The greenest building in the world is the one that is already built,” restoring a building is better for the environment than building a new structure and Leatherwood has been doing that for over 27 years. Leatherwood has been doing green projects long before there was a green movement. Going forward, Leatherwood is committed to raising the bar by implementing even more environmental and socially responsible procedures for all of its projects, products, and facility operations.
