History of Atlantis Natural

Founded in Miami, Florida in 2000, Atlantis Natural is a provider of information, goods and services to customers who value raising their babies in an eco-friendly manner using safe natural and organic ingredients, alternative healthcare and a concern for fair trade.

Our Name

According to ancient legend, Atlantis was an island in the Atlantic Ocean that Plato said was swallowed by an earthquake. The fabled people of Atlantis, according to the readings of Edgar Cayce were, spiritual beings at peace with their world, recognizing that they were an integral part of their environment and needed to protect it. They were a highly advanced people and when their world began to crumble their egress is said to have seeded the civilizations of the ancient Egyptians, Incas and the Aztecs.

At Atlantis Natural, we believe that it is our duty to behave in a way that is at peace with our world, recognizing the consequences of our actions and minimizing our footprint while we are here on Earth. We must nurture, protect and respect our world, its resources and people, in order to enrich and protect our own lives and those of our children. We believe that it is our responsibility as parents to teach our children to make choices that will protect our environment and their good health.

ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY

We do not distribute paper catalogs to our customers but encourage exchange of information electronically wherever possible and to shop our web site, where all products are featured. We do not staff a large call center but rather utilize an electronic voicemail service which we monitor throughout the day in order to respond to your concerns in a timely manner. We also encourage email communication whenever possible. This allows us to minimize our electrical utility demands to the bare minimum required to run a more compact office.

Atlantis Natural is committed to zero-waste standards at our corporate office with a robust recycling program that includes materials not collected in most businesses, such as paperboard and yogurt containers.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

We are a member in good standing of the Better Business Bureau, the Organic Trade Association, and Green America. These organizations promote and lobby for fair trade, good service and organic product standards.

Atlantis Natural is a proud sponsor of the non-profit organization Operation Baby Shower who recognizes and honors the sacrifices military families make by producing and coordinating unit-wide baby showers and "showers in a box" for pregnant or expecting military families in a deployment or high stress situation.

Non-Atlantis Natural branded products are sourced only from companies that verify their use of fair labor practices, which includes maintaining social responsibility in their factories.

Atlantis Natural does not knowingly do business with any companies that do not adhere to basic humanitarian practices. We screen our factories for a commitment to social responsibility and fair wages as well as efficiencies in materials usage.
